Your first survey in ten minutes
This guide takes you from an empty app to your first saved tree. You need a signed-in account and, for the first step, signal.
Create a site
Only the account owner can create sites. A surveyor sees the sites that the business adds.
- Open the Sites tab.
- Tap New site. It is the round plus button at the top. When there are no sites yet, you can also tap the New site button in the middle of the screen.
- In Start from, choose An address.
- Search for the address or tap the map. The app suggests a boundary and fills in the site name.
- Check the name, then tap Create site. If the site has no location yet, tap Create without boundary.
The site map opens when the site is made.
Record your first tree
- On the site map, tap Record first tree. On later trees the button reads Add tree.
- On the Measurements tab, tap Take photo, then set the species, the position and the measurements you have.
- Open the Assessment tab. Pick at least one item in each Defects row. The app then shows the Overall condition and a proposed category.
- Choose a Recommendation.
- Look at the To save checklist under the form. Each item shows a tick when it is done. You must have a square, a photo, the species, the condition and an action. A category U tree also needs Why is it U?.
- Tap Save, or tap Save and next to start the next tree at once.
Each field saves to your device as you type, so you can stop and come back to the tree later.
Check that it uploaded
After you save, the app shows Tree saved. With no signal it shows Saved on this phone and the tree uploads when you are back online.
Each tree shows a small mark: On phone, Uploading, Failed or Decide. To see everything that is still waiting, go to Me, then Device, then Upload queue.
