Tree Atlas is a software service for recording BS 5837:2012 arboricultural tree surveys on a mobile device and producing survey reports. We provide the software "as a service"; we do not carry out surveys, and we are not the author of any professional judgement recorded in a survey. Responsibility for the accuracy, methodology and professional content of any survey or report rests with the surveyor and their consultancy.
To use Tree Atlas you create an account and belong to a consultancy. The consultancy's account owner controls the subscription and can add or remove members. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account. You must provide accurate account information and be at least 18 years old.
New consultancies receive a 14-day free trial. No payment card is required to start the trial. At the end of the trial, unless the consultancy has taken out a paid subscription, the account becomes read-only (see clause 6).
How your subscription is billed, renewed, cancelled and refunded depends on where you bought it. Only one of the two parts below applies to you.
You can cancel at any time — from your account if you subscribed on treeatlas.app, or through your Apple ID if you subscribed in the iOS app (see clause 5.2). Cancellation stops the next renewal; your paid access continues until the end of the current billing period. For subscriptions bought on treeatlas.app we do not provide pro-rata refunds for a part-used period except where required by law (see our Refund & Cancellation Policy). Refunds for App Store subscriptions are a matter for Apple (see clause 5.2).
When a subscription ends (by cancellation or non-payment) the consultancy's account becomes read-only: you can still view and export your existing surveys and reports, but you cannot create or edit surveys, upload photos, or generate new reports. Your data is retained and remains accessible in read-only form for 12 months, after which it may be permanently deleted. Re-subscribing within that window restores full access with no data loss. You agree not to misuse the service: no unlawful use, no attempts to breach security or access other consultancies' data, no reverse engineering except as permitted by law, and no use that disrupts the service for others.
We own the Tree Atlas software and brand. You own the survey data, photos and content you create. You grant us the limited licence needed to host, process and back up that content so we can provide the service to you.
We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from professional decisions made using the software. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period.
We may update these Terms. If a change materially affects you we will give reasonable notice. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
